Sensei Steve, a spoken word artist connected to the ”Millennials vs. The World” podcast, performs two original pieces: ”Humanity,” a reflection on the loss of basic human kindness and the karmic nature of energy we put into the world, and ”Vices,” an introspective poem about the seductive pull of unhealthy habits and the personal agency required to overcome them.’

[03:21:15] Hey.

[03:21:16] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

[03:21:19] Is this?

[03:21:19] Is this what I think?

[03:21:21] Sensei Steve.

[03:21:24] Right there.

[03:21:27] You got to be on it, my brother.

[03:21:29] On it.

[03:21:31] All right.

[03:21:31] Welcome.

[03:21:31] Welcome.

[03:21:33] All right.

[03:21:36] Good evening, everybody.

[03:21:37] Good evening.

[03:21:39] As you guys heard, I go by Sensei Steve.

[03:21:43] I was able to meet Tyler and the Speak Your Truth crew through Melissa.

[03:21:49] And I’m here to talk about the millennials versus the world, which is a podcast that I work on.

[03:21:55] So shout out to them.

[03:21:55] Shout out to them.

[03:21:56] And right now I am just the hair changes.

[03:22:00] The hair changes.

[03:22:01] So, yeah.

[03:22:03] Change is a constant.

[03:22:04] So we always want to remember that.

[03:22:06] And one of the main reasons that I’m up here, not only to share, but also to, like I say, speak your truth.

[03:22:14] We all have certain levels and bumps of anxiety.

[03:22:18] Whether it be positive anxiety or negative anxiety.

[03:22:19] Whether it be positive or crippling.

[03:22:22] So just wanted to give myself a moment to actually be able to share a piece of something that I wrote.

[03:22:30] So I’ll be sharing two pieces.

[03:22:32] The first one, especially just as you feel the vibes in that sense, will be called humanity.

[03:22:44] We lost it, but I haven’t lost hope in humanity.

[03:22:49] What’s so simple cannot be found in our society.

[03:22:54] Something so basic, innate in children, but seemingly lost during puberty.

[03:23:01] Not everyone, but way too many can grasp this necessary mentality.

[03:23:09] Once upon a time, I recall that the golden rule exists and that stated that the energy

[03:23:16] that you put out will come back.

[03:23:19] Trust this.

[03:23:21] It can be gentle, kind, supportive, and full of glee or a disaster, pain and strife, having you asking why ye.

[03:23:35] But with reflection, a thought of the past, you can see clear as day 2020.

[03:23:46] Some would say.

[03:23:47] the reason that you dealt with these cards is because these cards you chose

[03:23:53] to play were up to you to make it do what it do as it does okay thank you

[03:24:04] thank you thank you thank you thank you and my second and last piece for today

[03:24:12] is entitled, Vices. like I said as I kind of paid attention and took in all of the

[03:24:19] beautiful artists that I was able to see that these were the two pieces that felt

[03:24:26] the most appropriate to share so, Vices, vices can be so enticing a desire to

[03:24:36] enjoy in a personal delights you long and lust for the sensation that

[03:24:42] that you get when you’re with your vice.

[03:24:45] Could be a person, place, some weed or drink,

[03:24:48] a pill or potion, unnatural desires you can’t explain,

[03:24:53] but you feel oh so amazing.

[03:24:57] And your inner divine conscience is just shaking its head

[03:25:03] because you know you’re being toxic,

[03:25:05] slightly delusional in the head.

[03:25:08] You can break it, how?

[03:25:11] You can’t shake it, no matter how hard you really try.

[03:25:15] But what is effort when solutions are already known

[03:25:20] and execution is up to your choice of action?

[03:25:24] You can make an excuse or create any type of distraction.

[03:25:32] We all must help ourselves to overcome

[03:25:35] so one day we can say the only vice I have

[03:25:39] is for genuine love.

[03:25:41] Progress and for better days.

[03:25:45] To always know that I can be a better me.

[03:25:48] Change that I can perceive and make vices positive.

[03:25:56] A paradigm shift you will see.

[03:26:00] Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

[03:26:09] Hey, bro.

[03:26:11] You got the voice for audio book, bro.

[03:26:16] Yeah, you and Brown Paper Dog need to do an audio book

[03:26:18] for real, for real, on Spotify or something.

[03:26:21] You got the voice for it.

[03:26:22] I’m already subscribed for it.

[03:26:24] Set it up, I’m subscribed for it.

[03:26:25] I promise, I promise.

[03:26:27] Hey, give it up for him one more time, Sensei Steve.

[03:26:29] Give it up for him, yeah.
