Malcolm McFadden and a co-MC reflect on Chris Haslin’s video segment, discussing the common barrier of feeling one’s problems aren’t significant enough to share, and emphasizing the importance of speaking out about mental health struggles. They also touch on how losing a friend to suicide can be devastating, and how channeling pain into creative craft can be a powerful advocacy tool.

[00:42:04] All right. And we’re back.

[00:42:07] So guys,

[00:42:11] he says something really important in that video that I want to talk on. Like in them in like

[00:42:17] towards the middle of the video he said that he that his problems, he didn’t talk to people because he

[00:42:22] felt like his problems weren’t big to other people, but they were big to him. And that’s one thing

[00:42:28] that you know, I have a problem, but I know a lot of people have problem with, we don’t think our

[00:42:31] problems are that big. But they’re big to us. And us not talking about it, doesn’t help. So,

[00:42:38] you know that’s why we’re here to speak our truth so that’s one thing you should definitely

[00:42:42] take from that is that you should speak out about your problems especially if they’re causing you to

[00:42:47] have dark thoughts or just ruining your life in general yep yeah i agree i agree and um i mean i

[00:42:56] think too you know talking on how uh the suicide of a friend uh can just throw your world upside

[00:43:04] down and just what a terrible wake the suicide leaves and loved ones lives yeah but um i’m glad

[00:43:13] that he did did something with that with that pain turn it to positive yep and uh

[00:43:23] sorry awkwardness with the online but uh but that’s one of the things where

[00:43:31] you know knowing what your craft is and then

[00:43:34] using that to your advantage using state building as an ultimate using your brand to you know to

[00:43:41] emphasize how problematic uh mental health is or the the struggle that there is um i really liked

[00:43:52] how you know he he was mentioning he doesn’t really know uh where this is going where 2020 is

[00:44:04] but right here right now is what we create we create our our present situation being able to

[00:44:15] share between us being able to express ourselves being able to connect even if it’s online is what

[00:44:24] i think we need to focus on but go for it for sure all right we got laura laura bear next

[00:44:35] up and y’all lord she was a collaborator with ami on a couple things before

[00:44:42] and there’s a little video that she put together i give her a lot of

[00:44:47] credit because this was um we were wondering about how we’re gonna do visual art with this

[00:44:52] and i think she did a pretty amazing job of getting into uh into this so here we go
